New Chaplain

The nuns welcome Fr. Ed Ruane.

Fr. Ed Ruane was born in Anaconda, Montana, and is one of four children. He has a B.A. from the Aquinas Institute School of Philosophy in River Forest, Illinois, an M.A. from the Aquinas Institute School of Theology in Dubuque, Iowa, and a D. Min. in Preaching. His profession was on August 31, 1963, at St. Peter Martyr Priory in Winona, Minnesota, and his ordination was on May 24, 1969, at St. Rose of Lima Priory in Dubuque, Iowa.

His ministry includes time in Austin Texas, on the faculty of St. Edward’s University and Director of Religious Education for the Diocese of Austin, Texas. He was Novice Master for the Central Province from 1974-1979. He served as Chaplain at St. Dominic Villa in Dubuque, Iowa and as Co-Director of the Aquinas Institute Summer Preaching Institute. He was on the faculty at Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri, teaching Homiletics, and a visiting Instructor in Homiletics for the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and Gettysburg Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Fr. Edward served as the Prior Provincial for the Province of St. Albert the Great in Chicago (1994-2003), and Vicar to the Master of the Order in Rome, Italy (2006-2012). Upon his return from Rome, he served as Pastor of St. Dominic Parish in Denver, Colorado (2012-2018).

For over 40 years, he has given numerous retreats, conferences, and workshops to many different groups: priests, seminarians, active sisters, cloistered nuns, as well as parish missions. Most recently, he was on the faculty of the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis, Missouri, before coming to the Monastery of Mary the Queen as Chaplain on December 1st, 2022.
